Sessional Project Assistant

Rate: £10.50 – £13.00 per hour (depending on project and tasks)
Hours and Terms: Thursday mornings in the Norwich area until October, with a view to continuing.

As our activities develop and our area of activity expands we are looking for a sessional project assistant to support our delivery team on a number of community, training and education based projects. Primarily this support will be working with ex-offenders to promote well-being, sociability, and develop new and existing skills in gardening and landscaping.

The successful candidate will be helping to manage a group of ex-offenders to build and maintain a food growing garden for a local community centre, under the supervision of a Groundwork Project Officer. The project will involve the construction of raised beds, trellis, training fruit, building pathways and any other creative ways we can grow food in a small space. The project is designed to be a rehabilitation project so we look to strike a balance between practical outdoor work, with a focus on wildlife and the environment, and supporting and encouraging positive social interaction. To this end, the project assistant will be expected to support volunteers in practical tasks, encourage positive conversations around personal and professional development, and help to create and comfortable and safe working environment.

Experience of working with a wide range of people is required, and experience of using hand and power tools would be very useful. We’ll make sure you’re given all the support and guidance you need and you will have the opportunity to become part of a highly successful organisation making a real and positive difference to your local area.

An ability to travel across the region on occasion is preferred.

If you are looking for an inclusive, family friendly organisation which offers flexibility, a supportive culture, an employee assistance programme together with the opportunity to develop your skills and progress your career we would like to hear from you.

Groundwork East is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all members of the community.

To support us as a Sessional Project Assistant we will require an enhanced record check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
